Creating a data source node - the start of the stream

All KDD streams must start with a database, which is represented by a data source node.

To create a new data source:

  1. Either click on the data source node button or select the create - data source command from the mode menu.

  2. The cursor changes create mode, indicated by the symbol.

  3. Click anywhere on the main workspace to create a data source node at that position.

  4. The data source node is also displayed in the project tree. As a data source node is the start of a new KDD Stream, a stream header also appears in the tree. In the example below, the name of the datasource is DataSource1 and the stream header is called KDD Stream 1.

You can change the name or the data source node or the stream header by clicking on the current name with the right-hand mouse button to display the context menu, then selecting the rename command.

You can reposition a node in the workspace at any time by clicking on its icon and dragging it to the new position with the mouse.

Tip: If you double-click on a node in the toolbar, WITNESS Miner positions it immediately in the centre of the workspace. You can then drag it to its new position.
