This case study example uses the BPRBASE model from the Witness Optimizer module. The aim is to analyse and understand the results that are generated by using the Optimizer module to run this model. Optimizer creates a large table of results that details all the input parameters and results (in this case, the profitability of a computer manufacturing operation producing customer machines to order). Whilst this set of results has been generated by the Optimizer there is no reason why it could not have been generated through the WITNESS experiment menu or directly through batch experiments and direct Excel links.
Witness Optimizer is used to search for a set of optimal parameters. Whilst using the single best result might initially seem to be the immediate action, there is also great value in understanding the set of results as a whole. Patterns in the data might describe why the optimal parameter set performs well and how it differs from poor results.
This example shows how to use WITNESS Miner to determine which key parameters make the most difference.
